Food Society Walk on Saturday

Food Society Events week beginning 5 March!

Monday

 

- to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight, Edinburgh Napier have invited us to go along to their fair trade info stall, coffee tasting and lunchtime presentations (including Ugandan coffee producer Justine Watulunga), for more details on times see poster.

 

- From 6pm alex and Sara will be baking pretzels and bread, and if you know how to make a dip, please bring the ingredients and show us how you make it!!

 

Wednesday

 

At 16.15 Sarah, Excercise Development Officer, is giving a talk on “Get Active. Eat Well. Study effectively!”.

Saturday

 

10:00 departure from Reception. We will walk along the Water of Leith from Currie to Balerno, where we can grab a bite at the Farmer’s Market and learn all about potatoes (yes potatoes!!) and the plans for Sustain Balerno’s community Orchard on Balerno Tattie Day!!

Edinburgh Tenements Can Be Energy Efficient: An event for home owners & community groups: how to cut fuel bills, carbon emissions & fuel poverty.

 

Edinburgh tenements can be made easier to heat with reduced fuel bills through installing new types of insulation and renewables. This event will provide details of new funding The Green Deal and the results of practical projects and studies into energy efficiency.

 

Speakers include:

 

* Chas Booth: a Leith energy-efficiency retrofit case study;

* Alistair Cant (Lister Housing Co-op): Retrofitting Historic Tenements in Edinburgh;

* Stuart Hay (Changeworks): Tenement Retrofit Challenge and the Green Deal.

 

Community Energy update from around the City from Balerno to Portobello.
